Q1. What or who inspired you to work in investing?

I had an avid interest engaging in markets growing up, attempting to vaguely understand what my parents did as they both worked in the City in Finance. A career in investing appealed on so many levels. It appeared an intellectually stimulating role drawing on a wide breadth of skills whilst appealing to my enquiring mind to look at things differently and question things. Being a people person, I was motivated by the opportunity to engage with company management & clients. Lastly, I liked that one could enact their conviction in investment ideas in the aim of creating value for others.

Q2. What do you think the future looks like for women in investing? What would you like to see?

The industry has enacted substantial change in the past ten years in introducing shared parental leave and flexible working policies that have made it a lot easier and more attractive for women to pursue a career in the field. I expect momentum here to continue but would love to see more women play their part in educating young women on the day to day draw of a career in investing.

Q3. What is your attitude to investment risk?

As active fund managers I think it’s important we deploy our risk budgets within the parameters of a given fund’s mandate to maximise return potential.

Q4. If you had a superpower, what would it be?

Healing power. Knowing that you’d be able to help yourself or others if something unexpected happened would be the best gift.

Q5. Tell us your motto or if you don’t live by one, why not?

‘Negative thoughts will never give you a positive life.’ I’m a strong believer in mind body connection and have successfully used it to overcome health issues, visualise and enact success both at work and in sport.
